Madagascar for Nintendo DS Review

Published by kjscrafts at 12:57 pm under Action/Adventure Games, Games Edit This

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is coming to theaters and video game consoles (including DS) this month. I could not wait for that, so I rented the original Madagascar game for the DS. I have tried the Madagascar: Operation Penguin game for Game Boy Advance before, but never the original Madagascar game. It found the play style very similar to the Operation Penguin game and just as fun.

The game is an adventure type game that pretty closely follows the movie plot.  In the game you play as different characters depending on the levels and what things you need to do.  Most of what you do is using the arrows and buttons, but you do use the touch screen to change characters in the middle of a level.  Different characters have different skills, such as the hippo is the only one that can swim.

The game is easy to learn to play, especially with the informative tutorial levels.  The levels are all pretty easy to get through with some challenge.  The main challenge is to try and get all the coins as you go through the levels, as some of them are kind of hidden.  You do not need the coins to beat the levels, but you can unlock fun collect penguins bonus levels the more coins you find.

Overall this is a fun adventure game to play.   It is a good game for kids because it has a good amount of depth and is not too difficult for them to play.  Plus it has a good plot line to it because it follows the movie quite well.  Also, the graphics are pretty good.
